Chimpanzee Eden & Botanical Gardens FD

Activity Description

Did you know that chimpanzees share 98 percent of our DNA? These charming primates are most entertaining, and we have the opportunity to observe them in semi wild surroundings at the Jane Goodall Institute Chimpanzee Eden. The 1000 hectare game reserve is home to chimpanzees who have been rescued from traumatic situations and who have a chance to recover in the sanctuary which resembles their natural habitat. It is gratifying to know that our entrance fee contributes to maintaining the centre.

After a light lunch we continue our tour with a tale of two rivers which merge in a tranquil pool in the Lowveld Botanical Gardens. The scenery created by the tropical African rain forest climate is enhanced by over 600 natural plant species and over 2000 additional plant species which have been introduced to the area. A stroll amongst the ancient cycads is a fitting end to a day filled with so much of what nature has to offer.
